Is Obama eligible to be President of the United States?

WorldNetDaily, a leading conservative news web site, has been promoting an on-line petition to remove Obama as President of the United States. The basic claim is that Obama may not have been born as a natural citizen of the United States. As such, this would violate Article 2 of the Constitution.

I find it a tad hypocritical for a news organization that supported John McCain for President is now questioning the eligibility of Obama. (John McCain was born in Panama, not the United States).

I also find it interesting that the Republican Party is suddenly interested in following the Constitution. The mainstream conservatives tend to be silent on matters such as the President sending troops to combat without a congressional declaration of War. The Constitution is quite clear that only Congress has the authority to declare war.

For years both the Democrats and Republicans have ignored and trashed the Constitution. As such, it is hard for me to take the Republicans seriously now that they claim to be such strict Constitutionalists.

I think Obama is a disaster as a President. Without a teleprompter (see video below) he is not as articulate as we were led to believe. However, we need to focus on the real issues and not become obsessed with borderline tin foil conspiracy theories.
