The State proposes a carbon allowance

As part of the battle against “climate change”, Britain’s Environment Agency has proposed that everyone be given a “carbon allowance” which will be tracked every time a person uses carbon such as buying gasoline or booking a flight. If you should exceed your carbon allowance (as determined by the State) you face fines and penalties. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/carbon/6527970/Everyone-in-Britain-could-be-given-a-personal-carbon-allowance.html Of course, as the war against “climate change” can never be won, this is a perfect excuse for the State to further increase the control they have over you. Many environmentalists are watermelons – green on the outside but red on the inside.

The Murder of the Aral Sea

Al Gore has recently advocated that we need “Global Governance” to combat climate change (formally known as global warming.) People such as Al Gore seem to think that centralized government control is the key to be friendly to the environment. But what does history tell us? Does centralized government control help the environment? One of the greatest man-made ecological disasters was caused under the central planning of the Soviet government. The Aral Sea was once the fourth largest inland saline body of water. The Arial Sea was equivalent to one of the United States great lakes. For generations that lake was used for fishing and recreation. In the 1940s the Soviets decided to build cannels in a misguided attempt to improve agriculture. Many Soviet scientists by the 1960s understood that the government policies were killing the Aral Sea. However, it was politically dangerous to speak out. The official Soviet government response to the dying of the Aral Sea was that it was nature’s faul...

Climate Change Interview with Dr. Pieter Tans

Image
Pieter Tans’ interview – Part 1 Pieter Tans’ interview – Part 2 I was honored to interview Dr. Pieter Tans, Chief Scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Dr. Tans is considered to be one of the leading and most influential climate scientists in the world. I asked Dr. Tans his opinion of Steve Chu’s (Secretary of Energy) statement to the media that California is in danger of losing its agriculture due to climate change. Dr. Tans explained that this is a real concern due to the lack of snowfall to provide water for the plants. We discussed that building new damns may be a partial solution to capture the water that runs off from rainfall. We also discussed the story that Dr. Tans was under political pressure to change his scientific findings. We discussed how that government funding of science tends to compromise the integrity of science. The bureaucrats of these governmental departments are always fearful that they will lose funding. Hence, the managers p...
