Atlas Shrugged is one of my all time favorite novels. If you look closely you can usually see a worn and well read copy of it behind me.  The premise of Atlas Shrugged is that we do not need to live for the State or for other people. I saw the movie this weekend and it was pretty good for a low budget movie. But unless you read the novel, I doubt you could appreciate the film. I was planning to do a traditional movie review (zzzzzzz) but I decided to have some fun and play with the theme in modern terms. As the government pursues collectivist policies (such as racial preferences, etc.) the men of ability disappear and we regress as a nation.

David Horowitz accused Ron Paul of being a "vicious anti-Semite" and a "crackpot".  Horowitz claims that Ron Paul is an anti-Semite because of Paul's proposal to end foreign aid to Israel. In reality, Ron Paul proposed an amendment to end ALL foreign aid. We are out of money and we simply can't send money to other countries. However, Horowitz used slippery and dishonest language (shocker!) to suggest that Ron Paul was only targeting Israel with the foreign aid cuts.  What a putz! April 15 is the Day of Silence in our schools. The National Day of Silence is observed nationwide every April 15 by students who wish to bring attention and an end to the bullying, harassment and abuse of LGBT individuals in their schools. Friday will mark the end of a week of awareness activities sponsored by Advocates for Equality. The student organization also participates in Miss Gay ISU and National Coming Out Day. Leading up to the Day of Silence, Advocates for Equality also showed the film "Prayers for Bobby" and held a "Safe Zone" workshop.

Sanguinetti apologized for his comments, but his apology failed to satisfy walk organizer Sonya Barnett. The Census Bureau projects that by the year 2100, the U.S. minority population will become the majority with non-Hispanic whites making up only 40% of the U.S. population. No doubt students will need to learn how to interact in a diverse environment. Jean Snell, clinical professor of teacher education at the University of Maryland, believes cultural diversity enhances the school experience, too.
