Farrah Fawcett and Cancer
The 70s icon Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago. After various treatments, she celebrated that she had beaten the cancer as it was in remission. Unfortunately, the cancer has returned and it has spread to her liver.
Cancer is a horrible disease that seems to follow this cruel pattern. The victim initially thinks he has been cured of the cancer, only to find that it returns in a couple of years. I have seen this pattern with so many people I have known in my life.Oh, can Farrah be 62? Is that possible? Hard to believe that a woman that was an icon in the 70s is now an elderly lady.

ReplyDeleteWe can't actually see cancer, in many cases, before it's too late. So we see the cancer on CAT scan and yank it out, but--guess what--microscopic bits of cancer have already spread to other parts of the body and eventually grow again.
That or new cancers form. It's really about cell mutation. There's not much we can do about it right now as our ability to diagnose disease at the molecular level is kind of lame.
