Day of Silence - 2011

April 15 is the Day of Silence in our schools. This is a time when advocates for equality continue to claim that certain groups are more equal than others.

Advocates for Equality to sponsor Day of Silence

ISU students will gather at the fountain Friday, using silence to send a message of protest.
The National Day of Silence is observed nationwide every April 15 by students who wish to bring attention and an end to the bullying, harassment and abuse of LGBT individuals in their schools.
Friday will mark the end of a week of awareness activities sponsored by Advocates for Equality. The student organization also participates in Miss Gay ISU and National Coming Out Day. Leading up to the Day of Silence, Advocates for Equality also showed the film "Prayers for Bobby" and held a "Safe Zone" workshop.
