An artist who likes my videos sent me this poster today. Yeah, I know the artist (Eddie Colla) who created this is a Lefty, but I still like his work. Better than all those crappy corporate inspirational posters.
Isn't that what Stalin did? And Mao? And the rest of the crew? Isn't that what Israel is doing in Palestine and USA and friends in Libya? I can go on but you get the message.
Your lefty friend's exhortation is ultimately a non-statement. It's a simple agro-femo rehash of the 60's "do your own thing" and we all know where that got us - right in the hands of the modern totalitarian state - the same one that until a few years ago was known, to those who had eyes to see and ears to listen, as the 'soft-totalitarian' state! Not even that is left now. Go on, do your own thing and don’t ask for permission when next time the TSA microwaves you or sticks its hands down your pants.
It's not so much about whether or not permission needs to be asked (however, sometimes you gotta be bold), it's the leftist veiling of the consequences to the actions and telling us that the grass is blue and the sky is green that has gotten us where we are in modern western society.
Actually, I find interesting is that this piece of art represents rebellion against the old right: patriarchy, family, community that is already mostly dead and has been replaced by liberalism: autonomy, feminism and empowerment of the left. What is ironic is that there is actually a rebellion, abet a small yet exponentially growing one, against the now conventional leftist zeitgeist that pervades every facet of modern society and Ramzpauls blog and youtube channel is but one example of many.
It's tedious garbage like this that motivates me as a fumbling amatuer artist looking to improve to create something better. Come on Ramzy, this is hipster rubbish! I admit the technical skill is there but that doesn't mean it's anything more than what Just Comments observes it as.
On this piece the artist says "It’s just about controlling your own fate. If you make your success contingent upon the approval of others, you’re kinda following the formula for failure. There are few great achievements in the history of the world that were not, at first, met with doubt or fear or both. For every person who achieved something great, there were 100 who told them it couldn’t or shouldn’t be done."
I do find it ironic that the same people that enjoy you for speaking your mind freely are often the same ones that demand you think the way they want you to think... Make the videos this way or that way. You are only allowed to like what I say you are allowed to like (as can be seen from the comment above mine).
As far as people like this - I agree with the graffiti above. Tell those who are demanding you to think, do, like as they want to bite the fattest part of your ass Ramz.
@biffmeatstick. I'm not saying we should run and get someone's permission. I'm saying that the graffiti exhoration above poses a false dichotomy, i.e. either do your own thing or submit to 'permission'. Working together with like-minded people is excluded from this formula - that's my beef.
President Obama was disappointed that the Olympic Committee decided not to choose Chicago as the venue for the 2016 Olympics. As President Obama was formerly a successful “community organizer” in Chicago, this defeat must have been especially disappointing. Part of the reason that Chicago may not have been selected is due to how Violence has stricken much of the city. Just a couple of days ago a Chicago student videotaped a murder of an honor student. http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/0929/p02s01-usgn.html (As a side note, it seems to be especially dangers to be a Black honor student. In the stories linked below, all the victims happened to be honor students.) http://www.smmirror.com/volume3/issue23/samohi_honor_student.asp http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article/article?f=/c/a/2005/09/27/BAG4OEUD661.DTL http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P1-79459073.html http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2009/01/26/2009-01-26_progun_senatordesignate_gillibrand_shoul.html Link to raw video: http://www.myfox

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Rebecca and Mark Stabler say their 8-year-old son Gabe has come home from Jeff Davis Elementary in tears every day since school began in August. So, they put a tape recorder in his book bag to hear what goes on in his first grade class. http://www.wlox.com/global/story.asp?s=11726282

I'm a little confused by Just Comment's comment. Whose permission should we seek?
ReplyDeleteJust Comments,

ReplyDeleteOh yeah and of course, the message of the poster, regardless of the intent of the artist, is universal.

I like to co-opt symbols from the Left.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, to me, I think of it as a symbol of rebellion against the establishment. And the establishment is pure Cultural Marxist.
We have allowed the Left to box us in to some stupid stereotype. Fuck that.
Anyway, thanks for the comments. Art is a personal thing. People don't have to have the same tastes.
