California nurses go on strike

The nurses in California are on strike. Here are some details:

$136,000 — the average annual pay for a full-time RN at a Sutter Health hospital with an open CNA contract

$105,000 — the average annual pay for RNs who choose to work part-time

Most nurses have the option of choosing a health plan with zero-monthly premiums for themselves and their dependents

$84,000 a year for life — what a 55 year old nurse who retires after 22 years of service will earn

All nurses receive a form of employer-paid retiree health care benefits. Most receive a spending account valued up to $35,000 to help cover the cost of premiums, medications, etc.

Nurses receive up to 40 paid days off a year to use for vacation, sick time and other personal uses.

  3. Didn't Ayn Rand take advantage of taxpayer provided health care under the name Ann O'Connor?
And she was hopelessly wrong when it came to the prediction of how a Bill Gates would act in his prime. Bill Donahue was bang on.
Rand said that other companies would quickly offer similar products at a lower price. Bill Donahue said a monopolist would simply buy the competitor.
Google Ayn Rand welfare queen and take a look at the old interviews Donahue did with Rand.

  4. I think it is important for people to realize these are Clai nurses not Rn's in the rest of the country. RN's in the Dakotas do not make anything close to this in pay or benefits. There is no retirement, the cost of family health insurance is $400 per month and PTO (paid time off)is about three weeks per year and includes vacation and sick time.
